I've heard the same about Thomasville. Nothing but good things, supposed to be a nice town.

As much as I personally don't care for the place, Gainesville, FL probably does meet most of those listed requirements. I personally want nothing to do with the place (and not because of the UGA fandom) but I know people that live there/have lived there who seem to like it well enough

My hometown. Very nice place. I wouldn't hesitate to raise my family there and often wish I could but the cards didn't work out that way and I live in my wife's hometown elsewhere in south GA.

The only criteria that may conflict with OPs wish list is public schools in T-vile. County schools are pretty good; city schools not so much, although they do have some kind of magnet program going on within the city school system that's getting some good reviews.

North Leon County (Tallly) schools are very very good - and it's just down the road.
