I think someone had this idea earlier, but why not just switch Auburn and Tennessee?

Tennessee's rivalries with Florida and Georgia are both relatively new. I mean prior to 1992, Florida would not have even listed Tennessee as a rival. And Georgia would still have considered Florida, Auburn, and Georgia Tech its three biggest rivals.

Sure Tennessee has a long history with Vanderbilt and Kentucky.... but would losing the UT-UK rivalry really hurt the conference all that much? Not sure many people outside of Lexington would notice it was gone.

The annual cross-divisional rivalries would look like this:

Alabama-Auburn
Tennessee-Vanderbilt
LSU-Florida
Ole Miss-Georgia
Arkansas-Missouri
Texas A&M-South Carolina
Mississippi St.-Kentucky

The conference would lose the following annual rivalries:

Tennessee vs. Kentucky (108)
Auburn vs. Mississippi State (89)
Ole Miss vs. Vanderbilt (86)
Auburn vs. LSU (49)
Tennessee vs. Florida (45)
Tennessee vs. Georgia (44)
Auburn vs. Ole Miss (40)
Tennessee vs. South Carolina (34)
Auburn vs. Arkansas (25)
Auburn vs. Texas A&M (6)
Tennessee vs. Missouri (4)

But it would gain back the following rivalries on an annual basis:

Auburn vs. Florida (84)
Tennessee vs. Ole Miss (65)
Tennessee vs. Mississippi State (45)
Georgia vs. Ole Miss (45)
Auburn vs. Vanderbilt (38)
Auburn vs. Kentucky (33)
Tennessee vs. LSU (32)
Tennessee vs. Arkansas (18)
Auburn vs. South Carolina (12)
Auburn vs. Missouri (2)
Tennessee vs. Texas A&M (2)

The three biggest "losses" in terms of annual meetings would be three games that rarely have any meaning: Tennessee vs. Kentucky, Auburn vs. Mississippi State, Ole Miss vs. Vanderbilt.

I'd trade those "losses" for gaining back Auburn vs. Florida, Tennessee vs. Ole Miss, and even Georgia vs. Ole Miss.
