My question is, are there other coaches who have presided over violations of this magnitude and subsequently survived? The only one I can think of is Jim Boeheim at Syracuse, and that's a totally different sport. Are there others?

So far Louisville has self imposed a post-season ban, some recruiting restrictions (i.e. visits, etc), and I think a scholarship or two while being pretty adamant that Pitino or Jurich won't be fired. Their President might bite it before it's all over with though.

Honestly, if I was a program dealing with violations I'd make the NCAA force me to get rid of him. If Briles could hang out as long as he did with the absolutely awful arse shite that's gone on at Baylor (and make no mistake, it's far worse than any payments to players) then why not try to wait it out?
