The Georgia coast and mountains are really nice and cities like Savannah and Athens are better than anything Bama or South Carolina have to offer (save Charleston). Granted, Macon, Columbus, and Augusta are pretty similar to Columbia and Montgomery in terms of crappiness

I'm from a family of Alabama but I was born in Atlanta and ha e lived here my entire professional life. I love Atlanta more than anything. Georgia is a great state and the coast is incredible, but South and West Georgia are exactly the same as South and East Alabama.
South Carolina's coast from HHI to Charleston (or even Pawleys) is full of great, old cities. Beaufort is great.
