Its not the former player part. Marcus runs his own FB camps in the area and I guess the NCAA sees that as a way to funnel talent towards the program. It makes sense I guess. They did leave the door open for him to have his "Life Coach" role in the athletics department as a whole, he just cant be listed as a member of the football staff. Or at least that's how I interpreted it.

Okay, so they don't list him as a member of the staff, but he can still enter into contracts with the athletic program for various speaking engagements, or for team training, as a consultant, right?

It's starting to look like a semantics game to me.
