Butch seems to be a pretty solid program CEO, a very good recruiter and a good marketer of the program. Jury is still very much out on his actual coaching abilities (development, in-game, etc).

However, the good news for Tennessee is that even if Butch underachieves this year and goes 8-4 and Tennessee eventually parts ways with him, he has built a really solid foundation. So, at worst the job is attractive to a higher tier coach, at best he ends up being a good coach who does the above things well and can win games coaching.

THIS JUST IN:

Butch will be a better coach as he has now gotten, get this, a better roster and also severely upgrading the defensive coordinator position.

He's not nearly as good as some Tennessee fans make him out to be.

He's also not nearly as bad as the majority of the rant makes him out to be.

Great recruiter. Awful game day coach.

I cant stand the fricker, but he thoroughly out coached spurrier at bare minimum twice. It is what it is.

Butch has taken a roster full of scrubs that was a SEC bottom feeder and turned them into a talented contender and possible top 10 team. He's also blown leads multiple times in big games with mindnumbingly bad coaching decisions.

Most people on tRant ignore or refuse to acknowledge one of those two facts, depending on their agenda.

He's done the same with Richt twice in Neyland as well (even though UGA won on a fluky play in 2013)

what was fluky about it exactly?

He dove with the ball and dropped it. Unfortunate sure, hell of an awful time in the game to do it, but I wouldn't call a fumble "fluky".

What's more "fluky" is losing 2 WRs and a RB in the game and having to go into cruch time with our 3rd string RB and 3rd/4th/5th string WRs.

Coaches we know that Lez(lie) out coached in this thread so far:

1) Spurrier: old and senile Spurrier with USC athtletes but still, Spurrier
2) Mark Richt apparently - ooooohhhhhhh impressive (Did he ask Boom how to beat UG?
3) Boom - wait, nevermind about Boom

when did les ever outcoach richt?

-05: we whooped them. We were simply better
-08: we whooped them again, simply a much better team
-09: back and forth battle coming down to the final minutes. Neither coach outcoached the other
-11: they whooped us, muuuch better than we were
-13: see 09. Back and forth, decided at the end

Maybe not an incredibly, Auburn 2013 level fluky play, but definitely not something you see that often. I've seen a lot of pylon dives, and very few have been fumbled, and I think that's the only one I can recall that wasn't forced by a hard hit by a defender. But that was definitely a bad time for Pig to get butterfingers.

Yeah I think we can all agree it was the worst possible time it could have been.

I just didn't agree with the fluke part.

Butch = male looking lesbian
Lesbian = Lez
Lezlie

Too many iterations from just saying Butch sucks? I like to complicate matters at times.
