So you're admitting that Shaw does indeed cast a wide net, hoping to get kids to commit, but that he is being dishonest insomuch as his people are not vetting the prospects first, before they commit, making sure they at least have a chance to qualify?

Sweet fricking Jesus, and you were laughing at what I was saying?

Every recruit who has ever wanted to go to Stanford knows that admission decisions aren't made until well after offers have gone out. In order to compete Stanford had to make offers to athletes who look like they might, but may not get admitted. And the amount of grief the admissions office gives to Stanford coaches varies. If Stanford waited until all of the athletes completed their junior classes and got their final SAT scores, they'd lose too many.

Shaw actually has a better rep than Harbaugh in terms of doing homework to make sure the folks he offers can gain admissions.

It's not dishonesty, it's what Stanford coaches have always had to deal with, and pretty much any who heard Shaw's statements would understand.

Other than guys like you who would rather be butt hurt and desperate to play the race card.

The concept of an early signing signing period would create challenges at Stanford that other schools would be immune to due to its strict admissions process. Shaw said that fewer than half of the program's recent 20-man recruiting class was admitted to the university before November, and the final admission didn't occur until the weekend before signing day.

We rarely get to play that card. I don't blame him for trying it to see how it feels.

I understand what Shaw was saying, but he was clumsy with the way he presented it.
