I think it's a little bit of both. I would say they know you are new and know you haven't followed the proper protocol by introducing yourself to the OT board.
So, until you do that, expect the same treatment.

Good point. Only alters don't introduce themselves on the Off-Topic Board...because they have already introduced themselves there once before, under their previous screen name.

What is the "intro to OT" board thing? Would really like to exorcise (or exercise, ATCMB) the demons.
