OK, obviously trolling, but sure why not.
Maybe it is an age thing and a time and place thing, but Eli being stepped on hurts WAY worse to me. Here is why:
1. It was to freaking LSU, a somewhat rival.
2. We were the first team (*edit* from the West) EVER to go 7-1 and not go to Atlanta, that made it sting a little worse (still, we have a banner so....).
3. That was Eli's senior year and frankly we though he was our savior. The future seemed uncertain despite our hopes.
4. Our award winning kicker missed at least two field goals that night making us feel even more cheated by fate.
5. I was there in person with my damn LSU friend. We had to drive all the way back to Texas after the game. Pure torture. 4th and 25 I was at home.....drunk.
5. 4th and 25 was horrible, and it deserves it's place in history, BUT....we do not feel like that was our only chance. We still feel like we are building for the future. In short, we do not think we are going anywhere and we will continue to play for the West. Only history will tell, but that is why Eli hurts worse that 4th and 25.

false.
Auburn was 8-0 in 1993 but were on probation. Tennessee was also 6-1-1 that year and didn't qualify, so yeah not quite the same.
Auburn was 6-1-1 in 1994 and didn't qualify over 8-0 Alabama, so same situation as Tennessee in 93.
Tennessee was 7-1 in 1995 and didn't go over 8-0 Florida
Tennessee was 7-1 in 1996 and didn't go over 8-0 Florida
Florida was 7-1 in 1998 and didn't go over 8-0 Tennessee
So really, Ole Miss was the first SEC West team eligible for the SECCG to go 7-1 and not make it to the SECCG
