Yes, those two and Vandy are the Big 3, but UK and Mizzou are growing their research programs, too. UK's medical research program is attracting lots of positive attention.

The UK Markey Cancer Center received the prestigious National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation in 2013. A $265 million Health Science Research Building is under construction:



It's research that mainly distinguishes Big Ten schools from SEC schools. The amount of federal research dollars that goes to Big Ten institutions is staggering. Some SEC schools are now competing for those dollars. All of our conference schools need to get in the game.

Last time I checked they were both in the SEC.
