For LSU to be tied for 20th in final four appearances, we really should dump more money into the basketball program and go out and find a good coach. The fans want to care about basketball, but have trouble getting behind it after another disappointing season.

Alabama went 21-3 overall and 14-0 in conference and finished ranked 5th in 1956. No NCAA Tournament.

Alabama went 18-8 overall and 13-5 in the SEC in 1972. No NCAA Tournament.

Alabama went 22-8 overall and 13-5 in the SEC in 1973. No NCAA Tournament.

Alabama went 22-4 overall and 15-3 in the SEC in 1974. Finished ranked 14th. No NCAA Tournament.

A 3 year period of going 62-20 overall and 41-13 in league play and zero NCAA Tournaments shows what they were dealing with.
