Another big reason UK has so many more appearances is nobody else could go to the NCAAT other than conference champs until 1975.
All 20 of Alabama's NCAAT appearances are since 1975. If Arky and Missouri had Kentucky in their league they'd have a bunch less too.

Yea. Arkansas had 5 NCAA invitations prior to 1977. So, 26 since 1977.
Arkansas had 2 Final Fours, 3 Elite Eights prior to 1977.
Many people view Indiana as a historical basketball power, but they've only been to 8 Final Fours all time(just above Arkansas), 6 of those in the new era of basketball, and only won 1,784 games all time.

Or maybe Kentucky would have less? There is two sides to every coin.
Arkansas only had 5 invites prior to 1977. Arkansas is 18th all time in NCAA Tourney wins.
Missouri only had 1 invite prior to 1976.
