In any event, I agree with your last sentence. Given that Bielema has obviously paid close attention to the Saban model, there's no reason the defense couldn't carry the team to great success even if the offense takes time to settle in.

Depends on what you mean by that. He calls the plays, Bert gives him a lot of control.
