I wouldn't call it disturbing. Tempering expectations maybe. Despite some pretty poor records, there's no question the SEC was a much improved league from top to bottom this year compared to the last few years. Grant was at Alabama in years the league hit absolute rock bottom. Even the cellar dwellers this year with the possible exception of Mizzou all had stretches where they showed a pulse. Bama did fade this year but it was against a markedly improved league.

We'll have a more talented and skilled team overall next year but the one glaring issue will be replacing Obasahon's production. For that reason alone, we may have to suffer one more lean year next year before taking off.

The league was improved overall, but lacked a consistently good team. I do not think you will see an SEC Team in the Sweet 16. Alabama had some good wins, but had some really bad loses. Any team with average talent and coaching should have made the NCAAs this year. I think the league lacked both at times this year.
