All that aside, I'm talking about what is or is not probable. And of course most any father would advise his son in a way that would serve his son's best interest!

What you seem to be implying is that a given, respected career law officer would think advising his son to violate a federal law is the best-interest path while a D-I head football coach is more probably to be above reproach.
