5-star OL Alex Leatherwood could be Alabama's next Cam Robinson

Alex Leatherwood

School: Washington (Pensacola, Fla.)

Position: Offensive tackle

Height/weight: 6-foot-6, 330 pounds

Also considered: Florida, Michigan, Auburn, Georgia

247Sports composite ranking: Leatherwood is a five-star recruit, rated as the No. 4 prospect nationally, the No. 1 offensive tackle and No. 1 prospect from Florida.

How he fits into Alabama's plans: Cam Robinson started at tackle for Alabama as a true freshman in 2014. Jonah Williams did it last year. Leatherwood could be next. Like Robinson and Williams were, Leatherwood is a five-star prospect ranked among the best players in his class. Leatherwood enrolled at Alabama in January.

Projection for 2017: With Robinson gone, Alabama could move Williams to left tackle. If it does, Leatherwood will one of several players competing for Williams' vacated job at right tackle, along with players such as junior Lester Cotton, redshirt freshman Scott Lashley and four-star JUCO tackle Elliot Baker. At worst, he appears to have a good chance to be a top backup.

5-star Tua Tagovailoa will compete for Alabama QB job

Tua Tagovailoa

School: St. Louis (Honolulu, Hawaii)

Position: Quarterback

Height/weight: 6-foot-1, 210 pounds

Also considered: Oregon

247Sports composite ranking: Tagovailoa is a five-star recruit, rated as the No. 32 prospect nationally, the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback and No. 1 prospect from Hawaii.

How he fits into Alabama's plans: People in the recruiting world have been calling Tagovailoa "the next Marcus Mariota" since his sophomore year of high school. Maybe even earlier. Tagovailoa comes from the same high school as Mariota, the 2015 Heisman Trophy winner. The left-handed Tagovailoa has a longstanding relationship with new Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, who was the first head coach to offer Tagovailoa back in 2014 when Sarkisian was the head coach at USC.

Projection for 2017: While Jalen Hurts is the clear favorite to start at quarterback after winning SEC Offensive Player of the Year as a true freshman, Tagovailoa will be given a chance to compete for the job, as will fellow freshman quarterback Mac Jones. Tagovailoa's lead Crimson Tide recruiter, Tosh Lupoi, told him during the recruiting process: "We're not making any promises, but you'll have a chance to compete."
