There are tests for it but there's an ongoing debate on how effective they really are.
The two problems with HGH testing are that a) it's found much more easily in the blood than in the urine and b) it's almost completely out of your system in 24hrs
Because of those two factors, it's very difficult to catch people using. Compounding that, it's hard to justify taking blood samples with so few people are being caught.

Bama gave the entire team deer antler spray which is a mild form of hgh so yes
No, it isn't. At least what the SWATS guy was peddling to practically all of the SEC wasn't. It was actually either bovine or human IGF-1 (surprisingly, you can't tell them apart in testing) but the method of administration (oral spray) rendered any potential effects useless.
As to is the use of HGH rampant? I'd be a little suspicious of the 60% number at the college level simply because of the number of athletes that would involve but I strongly suspect it is very widespread.
As others have said, testing for it just doesn't work. There are tests to detect it, but they only work if administered within a few days of use. Unless you're incredibly unlucky, you aren't going to get caught.

Or just just train really hard like Scott Cochran demands.

I'd be surprised if it isn't at least 'selectively' used at every SEC program.

Dan Patrick said that a NFL QB told him at least 60% of the players in the league are using HGH. Do you think those numbers equate to College Football ? No test for it, why not take advantage of it. When you see or hear about players gaining 30 pounds in the off season, you have to wonder.
Maybe. But it ain't like basic steroids. An HGH program costs thousands of dollars. Whereas basic steroid cycle could be 100$. You can test for it too. But again if someone's is halfway smart about basic steroids, they won't get caught.

All this mis-information in this thread. Finally a good post.
There are very few using HGH in college. HGH is incredibly expensive and good sources are difficult to find. Deer antler spray doesn't do anything so it is neither here nor there.
There is probably a decent number using certain peptides, which are basically poor man HGH. Most of what is being used by college athletes is test cycles and DBol and such. Plus, these kids are genetic freaks and are probably using alot less than what most people imagine.
Personally I think the steroid use in college is not nearly as big as people like to think. Professional sports however, it is certainly high and in sports like the NFL is out of control. College... ehh not as bad. That's just my opinion.

Cost is never a factor in College Football. If it is going on at schools, I guarantee the coaches suspect it or endorse it.

exactly. Legit HGH is expensive as shite. Even if you get a Chinese knock off, a viable PED dose is going to cost about a 1000 a month at least and takes months to see the true effects. If you go made in the USA you are looking 3k per month.
and doctors aren't prescribing that to some cfb player. Maybe an nfl player that can pay 10x the price but not somebody only able to pay the min. And hgh scripts are monitored closely.
CFB and HS players often do use normal steroids though. You can get the gains of a year usage of hgh in 12-16 weeks for less than 500 and its readily available everywhere all over campuses.

dude those kinds of scripts are monitored very closely. You are way off base on this one.

And boosters do not buy players car either. My guess if you check with player who has ever had an injury, HGH was used as part of their recovery. HIPAA helps keep it quite.

Cam used it at Auburn.
I'm sure the entire Bama roster uses it.

Why does HGH and steroids get a bad wrap? If they aren't abused, they aren't bad for you. Especially HGH. It gives us a better product on the field. Nothing will ever beat the summer of '98 in baseball and they had juice coming out of their pores. Bring back the juice in baseball and maybe they will gain some fans. Big fan of getting on the sauce. I want gladiators and Spartans out there.
