Not a conspiracy theory, just your second sentence plus the fact that they will generally rate uncommitted players higher than committed ones to keep interest high. LSU's class is almost full so they took a big hit from the readjustments.

There are only 15 players in the Top 50 who are uncommitted. 7 of the top 10 are committed. The vast majority have been committed for a while. The #6 ranked player in the entire country is committed to Houston.
