I've never seen enrollment in a place rise so quickly. I'm not sure there were 20k undergrads when I was there.

I don't think Alabama passed Auburn in enrollment until sometime while I was there. Now, it has 10K more kids than they do.

The problem with Alabama's growth is they are having to offer the moon to out of state students to reach those numbers. With more than 50% of the student population being from out of state, UA is having to accept lower instate students to keep the numbers reasonable. It has become a big concern with the Legislator that the School is becoming an Education Mercenary at the expense of the Alabama Taxpayers (who built and maintain the infrastructure).

No they aren't, at all. The lower end of admittance in terms of ACT/GPAs is higher now than it was 10 years ago. Not even really close, actually.

That's why people are getting upset, because "average" Alabama kids are having a harder and harder time getting in there, which is the opposite of your argument.

You really try hard to spread this lie around, despite the fact that freshman class scores at UA are the highest they've ever been and continue to improve year over year.

The legislature stopped adequately funding higher education a long time ago. They have only themselves to blame.
