Yea, they have had great success with

(a) Big City area kids who are high performers who they lure in with scholarships (and win over with visits to campus)

(b) Lottery state kids who are just under the lottery requirements or just miss getting into the state school (Texas, Georgia especially) who still have solid grades/test scores
