NAh.
Best way.
Set Benchmarks.
You need to reach X in attendance.
You need to reach X in donations.
You need to create a booster club that generates X amount a year.
You have X number of years to reach these goals or the program is closed.
How the thing should have been handled from the beginning tbh.
Best way.

No. Because if the UA BOT were to do that they would be seen as trying to undermine the program. Many might see the goals set by them as unmakeable. And they probably would be. UAB isn't some program on the verge of becoming a powerhouse. They're a doormat used by the Power Five schools to rest and recuperate before conference play starts.

Why is UAB held to this arbitrary standard that no other program in the country is held to? Several fundraising goals have already been met. The students voted on a fee increase. Attendance was up in 2014 because the team actually had a pulse.

Ray Watts, that's UAB alum Ray Watts btw, has got to be the luckiest SOB alive. He singlehandedly kills and resurrects Blazer football with nothing but his pen, and all the mindless frickwits in this state blame the decision on some Manchurian candidate/evil boardroom conspiracy out of Tuscaloosa instead
Watts is still in office despite a vote of no confidence from the faculty senate and repeated calls to resign. Now, how could that be? What a mystery. I just can't figure it out.
