Well said. I've never understood the animosity so Tide fans have towards Mike.
I think Shula was a good guy, just not the right guy. It is not like he did anything to embarrass the University, right?
no, he didn't ... a sizable percentage of bama fans are just simply shitheads ... they bash shula for bad play calling or blame him for prothro's injury ... they also bash former players because the player didn't lead bama to a national title (spencer pennington, who was a 3rd string qb) ... it's "did you win a title" instead of "did you play for bama?" ... they're not fans of alabama ... they're fans of the current flavor ... announcers are giving shula credit and the op doesn't like it ...
it is what it is ...

Wut?
Bro, I was in school for the Mike Shula era (that was literally my 4 year period of college, the Mike Shula era). I was friends/classmates with a ton of those guys that played for Shula. I went to Knoxville, Fayetteville, Gainesville, Auburn, Columbia, Oxford and Starkville during the Shula era (90% of those trips resulting in losses). I'm as close to that era as just about anybody this side of players and staff on those teams.
I'm HAPPY for Shula. It's just mind boggling to see him putting together such an interesting and crafty offense after watching what he put together for 4 years in Tuscaloosa. I think it is great how he has grown and been given a chance to do so.
Fans of current flavor? GTFOH.
