Or 2 kids in 2 days. 1 of which we really wanted. I hope the staff isn't as dismissive. Hate to say it but I think Lovie is here to stay. He'll improve Illinois. He'll always be liked and remembered in STL. He'll continue to win more recruiting battles than Illinois used to in the STL.
Best thing we can do is play them and pound them and remind everyone who the real player here is. Of course, lose those games and you feed the Lovie train more

Lovie can stay as long as he likes. I'm not the least bit concerned. Illinois used to pull their share of kids out of STL. Again, he has a name now. That's it.
He won't be able to play the "hey, I coached in the NFL" card forever. He'll soon have to play the "hey, we can't make a bowl card"
I don't think he's some coaching savant. his tenure ended poorly at Chicago and he flat out sucked at Tampa Bay. He was a DC for the Rams when these kids were 4 years old.
You're getting all shook up over 1 kid who somehow struck up this, borderline weird, infatuation with him.
It's not like he's off to some barnstorming recruiting start. They are last in the Big 10 and about 25 spots behind our own modest ranking. Larry Boyd won't make their program and it won't break ours. Nor does it signify some dark cloud on the STL horizon.
Hell, if anything I'm very surprised he hasn't been able to recruit a hell of a lot better than he has.
