he should have never been an NFL head coach to begin with, only reason he was is because of his dad.

So let me get this straight... It is Lane Kiffin's fault that senile Al Davis offered him the HC job of an NFL franchise? He should have said, what, no thank you?

He was still there 1 season and went 7-6 IIRC.

Yeah because he was offered his dream job. I'm guessing he was supposed to say no thank you again? lol

Improved them 1 game from the previous season.

Yeah and you know just as well as I do there was a completely different buzz around that program while he was there.

nobody knows if that's true or not. He had 3 years and his bosses felt he deserved to be fired.

True. Definitely just my opinion.

So you pick one game out of around 30 to prove a point?

No, there were plenty of instances.

Answer me this...has alabama won more games the last 2 seasons on the back of their defense or offense? Right.

You need to go look. It's a lot closer split than you think.

If you'll step back and read, I have never once blamed lane. I've blamed the industry for falling for this crap.

quote:

this guy just absolutely has the life doesn't he?

-Successful college OC (with bush, white, leinart, those big tall WRs, etc)...gets NFL job
-miserable failure as NFL coach
-parlays "nfl experience" into college HC job. Barely goes .500, leaves after 1 season
-now still a college HC. Goes 28-15 before being fired
-back to college OC job. Does very well with nationally elite defenses at his back (not to mention a heisman winner, belietnicoff finalist, some of the best OLs in football, etc)
-now parlays that into potentially another NFL job

When will America learn?

I never said lane is wrong for getting these jobs, why wouldn't he accept them? I'm blaming other people (rather, the NFL and colleges who offer him a HC gig) for continuing to buy into it.

and? The reasons behind it are irrelevant, the FACT is he was there for 1 season, barely broke even, then left.

yeah going from 5-7 to 7-6 was a real program changer.

Ok....again, was bama's success the last 2 seasons due more to the defense or offense? I can think of 2 games off the top of my head that bama won when the offense picked up the slack for a below average defense. I can't even count the number of times that bama could have had schottenheimer as OC and still won based on the strength of their defense.
