I came across this article tonight about the men's basketball game today at the CLA. Any thoughts on the call out by Cloninger and does anybody know who the old timer was that told the kids to cool it.

I'm young and I swear sometimes when needed, sometimes when not. I'd never be comfortable being in a group that was yelling something that vulgar I can tell you that much.

I can understand giving a PSA for the frick you Vandy chant. That's not a good look.
But does he really need to call out at his own admission a couple of students that called used some variation of frick, **** and pussy (fricking **** pussies?)?
Seems like every large crowd is gonna have some of those words said and reeks of PC bullshite
Eta- didn't realize "bundle of sticks" or a British term for cigarettes was censored on here

I did find it just a tad hypocritical that he cussed in an article that included griping about students cussing.
Yeah, "helluva" isn't on the same level IMO, but there are quite a few who subscribe to the "a cuss word is a cuss word is a cuss word" line of thought.

We heard it ... and I wish they wouldn't have done it, but students are gonna be students, especially these days.
It was not a good look for us. I hope it didn't come across on TV.
We can be classy fans, and our student section can be intimidating, without the chanting of vulgarities.
I do believe it was in response to something their (Vandy's) coach did though ... we saw him turn to the crowd and make some angry gestures a couple of times.

I could hear the usual "ref you suck!" chant on TV but ESPN really has found a way to muffle crowd noise for TV (and I personally didn't hear the frick you Vandy chant)

There was a point where some curious fouls were called at the team, and a part of the crowd started chanting "Bull - shite Bull - shite", and it was definitely heard on the broadcast and the color guy even made comments about the crowd getting "rowdy" or something like that.
I agree it doesn't make the fanbase at the games look very good when it's on a TV broadcast, and I doubt it ever plays any beneficial role for the Gamecock's efforts anyways. Chanting "Refs You Suck" and "Bull shite" just makes the fanbase look like Clemson's fanbase....
