What the 2 Deep will look like next year

I'm not an expert at this, and I was wrong about several predictions last year on the 2 Deep, but I wanted to take a look based on who we have committed now, and who is still on the roster. We'll have transfers no doubt, but I think I can get a picture of who some of the starters or 2 Deep guys will be. (I'll probably be wrong on half of them though.)
QB - Mitch and Nunez/McIlwain ( I think McIlwain is good enough to compete for a starting spot his Fr year, especially since he's EE'ing and Roper loves him.)
RB - David Williams and AJ Turner. AJ RS last year, and wait until y'all see this guy, he's going to be special.
WR's - Deebo, Googer, DJ Neal will probably start. I'm expecting Christian, Davidson and Edwards to compete for the 2 Deep.
TE - Crosby and Markway (Crosby might be a FB though) We needed to sign an elite TE this cycle. A guy like Nauta could've come in and started this season.
LT - Cooperwood and Pellage
RT - Zandi and Camper
LG - Stanley or Bailey
RG - Stanley or Bailey or Helms
C - Knott or Helms
DT's - Sawyer and Griffen starting - Lamin, Stallworth and Wideman contributing.
DE's - Lewis and Whitlow starting - English and possibly Blackshear or Johnson contributing.) We needed another elite DE recruit this year.
MLB - Allen WIlliams and Pittman
OLB's - BAW and Walton starting. Holloman and Bryant contributing.
CB - Lammons and King - Fenton and Boyd contributing (I'm done with the Al Harris Jr experiment, it hasn't worked for 2 years, and Rico McWilliams had a bad season last year too. A good portion of that was bad coaching and telling these guys to play with 10 yard cushions, but some of it was just their own athletic ability...or they weren't watching film on the offenses they were playing.)
S - DJ Smith starting, Jordan Diggs contributes.
S - Jordan Diggs and/or Elder We need a couple elite S recruits this cycle.
Looking over our Roster and Depth Chart, we are going to be thin at TE, S, and DE after this year, so we really need to bring in guys this cycle who can be starters in '17 and probably who could contribute heavily in '16.

Blackshear?
What's the latest on him? Kinda thought we were done with him.

He got shot in the upper chest and leg. He hasn't been dismissed from the team. I guess it will come down to how well he rehabs and whether or not anything comes from the assault.

Probably a jaded way to look at this..but scrooster had mentioned how the taters would use that shooting negatively on the recruiting trail. Guess they've just supplied us with some negative shite to use against them as well.
Clemson was like, "We'll see your shooting and raise you three cokeheads." Always trying to one-up us.

This is going to be tougher for them to use then one would think. If anything, having a player get shot, recover and then go on to have a good career for us would be more beneficial.
Some of the players we recruit have had friends or family shot or shot at, or they live in areas where that's not that uncommon. There may be some degree of empathy there for Blackshear's situation. Also, some smart ones will see through that and think it's disgusting to use a guy who got shot to negative recruit a school.
Also, don't let anyone tell you that shootings don't occur in clemson, they had one in August.

Good points. I remember some of the stories surrounding Carlos Thomas when he signed with us. He was straight out of the largest housing project in Atlanta, and he had something like 10 friends from his childhood get gunned down. A shooting like this may not even phase some guys.

I know Muschamp likes to use a hybrid OLB/DE in his base package. If Allen-Williams can put on 10-20 lbs in the off season, I think he'd be the most likely to fill that spot with Lewis starting at the other End. I expect Wideman to be in the mix for a starting position as well. If we can hire a coach that can teach guys to actually get off blocks, I think we'll be pretty solid on the DL next year. I thought the staff did a decent job filling needs there last year; just couldn't coach them.
Ideally, I think we should redshirt McElwain and give the keys to Nunez. That would give each player 2-3 years to be the guy. With the exception of Cooper this past season, Nunez was clearly the most talented playmaker we had on offense. He'll probably be the focal point of our offense next year. He's got the arm talent, and he's pretty accurate on the short stuff. Needs to work on his touch on balls past 10 yards. I think any inaccuracy issues he had was mostly due to the fact that he was a true freshman having to learn an extensive pass game for the first time. I'm sure most of his throws in high school were slants and hitches.
