This year sucked for our football team, 3-9 is awful, but I wanted to look at the stats to see how we did and to see if there was at least a couple things we did well. We all know that the coaches last year were the problem (especially on defense,) so it will be interesting to see how we improve next season statistically...for a lot of these stats, we have no where to go but up.

National Rankings
Total Offense - 99th
Rushing Offense - 87th
Passing Offense - 85th
Pass Eff Offense - 84th
Scoring Offense - 110th
3rd Down Conv - 100th
4th Down Conv - 54th
Red Zone Offense - 51st
1st Down Offense - 108h
Turnovers Lost - 21st
Fumbles Lost - 1st (we only lost 3 fumbles this season.)
Total Defense - 95th
Rushing Defense - 109th
Passing Defense - 50th
Pass Eff Defense - 83rd
Scoring Defense - 70th
Turnover Margin - 31st (hey, that's not bad.)
3rd Down Conv Def - 121st
4th Down Conf Def - 103rd
Red Zone Defense - 57th
1st Down Defense - 82nd
Team Sacks - 95th (frick Deke Adams)
Team TFL's - 94th (same as above)
Net Punting - 8th (KickerU!!!, Kelly is the man, he's back next year.)
Punt Return Offense - 111th (surprised by this.)
Punt Return Defense - 66th
Kickoff Return Offense - 28th (that's pretty good.)
Kickoff Return Defense - 23rd (solid.)
Blocked Kicks Allowed - 1st
Sacks Allowed - 71st (I put more of that on Orth and Nunez than the OL.)
TFL's Allowed - 56th (same as above)
Fewest Penalties Per Game - 20th (at least we didn't give them yards...more so then when they would snap the ball.)
Fewest Penalties Yards per Game- 10th (we didn't make a lot of careless errors, just bad play calling on both sides.)
Time of Possession - 93rd
So we were awful in all things but Special Teams, Red Zone Offense/Defense, Turnover Margin and Penalties.
All the key players are back this year to have great Special Teams again. I think Fenton should do both PR and KR. Now that we have coaches on the defense and a true master HC/DC, those stats should improve without a doubt. The question mark is going to be if Roper and the offense coaches can get more production.

these 2 categories alone were death sentences for 2015. Muschamp/Roper have to find a way to at least cut that in half for 2016.

Red Zone Offense - 51st
USC had the 5th highest FG% in RZ offense in the nation last season. Carolina ranked 117 out of 128 in TD's scored in the RZ.
Gamecocks had just 36 RZ chances last season, tied for 106th in the nation. Oklahoma & Oregon led FBS (12 game schedules) with 65 RZ chances.

Yeah, that 3rd down defense was a killer for us each of the last 2 years I think. We had plenty of series where we were pretty good on 1st and 2nd down, and then gave up a big play on 3rd because we couldn't rush the passer.
I wouldn't put much stock into punt returns. I think that has more to do with having a special returner than any kind of scheme. Personally, I never thought Pharoh was a great punt returner. He's not that elusive or exceptionally explosive to break a big one, and he's muffed a few the past couple years. I thought we was a good kick returner when we had him back there though.
