Josh Huepel to be new Mizzou OC per Salt Lake Tribune

For reference he was co-OC at Oklahoma for 5 years or so, was fired and spent this past year as OC at Utah State. Salt Lake Tribune and Utah St Scout site saying it's done, sounds like he told USU he is leaving.

He led Utah State to 13 points against New Mexico this year. You gotta be excited about that.

Someone who beat Bama and won a BCS bowl with his offense. He was the QB coach at OU when Sam Bradford won the Heisman. Also, he won a Natty as a player for OU.

This isn't accurate. Not yet anyway. We are still reviewing several candidates

But Utah media says it's happening.
So what I make of that is Huepel has told his Utah St peeps he's leaving - hence leaks out of Utah - but the Mizzou side doesn't want to scare away any candidates til the ink is dry. And the ink can't dry at least until the Mizzou BOC approves Barry Odom himself's new head coach contract later this week.

The BOC hasn't approved the assistant coach budget yet so it's impossible for Mizzou to hire assistants until that is done.

They can make a hire before that happens. They hired the head coach before the BOC meeting after all. The BOC meeting is not a negotiation. Rhoades and Odom already know what the budget is for asst. it's just a formality.
