If that team wasn't so handicapped by a freshman OL, it might've been the most complete under CMR.

That OL lost all 5 starters from the previous year and gave up 47 sacks that year.

It is astounding to think that we could have potentially played for the national title that year. Let's assume a loss in DV as it happened. If we kept running Lumpkin in the 4th quarter in jax we potentially win. If Eli doesn't fall down and beat LSU we get them in Atlanta, and I doubt we would have lost to that ole miss team. 12-1 and SEC Champs and we're playing OU in the title game.

Crazy. Everyone mentions 02/07/12 as our best teams under richt, and they're right, but 03 wiht just adequate line play could have made some serious noise.

02, 03, 07 and 12.

God we should've pulled a championship out of one of those

03 was Richt's best coaching job, IMO. Absolutely dominated Clemson, Carolina, Tennessee, Auburn, etc. and lost 2 games basically in the final minute (Bennett missed 3 field goals in the first half of LSU).

Had they gotten some of the breaks they did the year before in close games, there's no question they're right there playing for it all.
