Does it really matter? If you go to eight teams, it is not like they would be knocking out a legitimate top four team. Also, that way, they would get exposed every year, vs. only getting exposed in the big games, like the one against Bama in the championship game.
A few years of getting blown out and people might actually start looking at ND like they are now, not as they once were.
