Or is he gone after the SEC championship?

I've seen coaches pull double duty in those circumstances.

Apparently he is gone after the SECCG.

Which is upsetting, but we'll see how much Saban calls the plays for the defense.

Most likely gone Sunday.

When you leave to be a HC you usually have a lot of work to do right away.

I would imagine UGA wants him to come in and get to recruiting right away

No way. He's got to be out recruiting, putting a staff together and evaluating what he has in place at UGA.

Herman stayed for the playoffs when he took the Houston job, didn't he? If Kirby leaves before then, Saban should be pissed.

And if he does, who calls the plays on D? Saban? He's a better game planner than gameday coach.

He coaches the playoffs. It's a commitment. He will finish what he started.

The better question is do we want Kirby staying through the playoffs? There is no way he will be able to have his full focus on preparing for two playoff games when a job like UGA is waiting on him. UGA is not Houston or Colorado State.

J-Mac was CSU's coach and split duties by recruiting for CSU and coaching our offense to another natty so I'd think Kirby is inclined to do the same. Nothing better as a recruiting tool to have another title on your resume.

I think he stays but college coaches be crazy.

UGA and Smart will want him working right away. Saban will probably tell him to do so right after the SEC championship. Too much recruiting and things to set up to sit around in another team's office for a month, as much as it kinda sucks as a fan in the middle of a title run.
