You do realize both are saban boys right? I'm pretty sure they have majority of the same philosophies..

Muschamp was a GA at AU (got his masters at AU) and learned defense under Bill Oliver. He also coached under Tubs. He has as many years away from Saban as with him. Same with Jimbo Fisher (who spent more time under the Bowdens than Saban).

I just don't see why Muschamp would make a lateral move to coach under a DEFENSIVE coach. At AU he has full control and is basically #2 behind Gus. Anything the defense does, he and his assistants get full credit. At UGA, as was said already, all the glory will go to Kirby on defense. And money isn't an issue, as AU already pays him more than any DC in the country.

The only reason I think it could happen is because Muschamp, like Smart, played football at UGA. That does still mean something even to professionals. Still, though, Muschamp wants to be a HC. That's his goal. I think he can prove more by building AU's crapper defense back to what it was in the Tubs era than he can playing second fiddle to Smart where he certainly wont get much credit.

I guess we'll find out in the coming days/weeks.
