First off, let me say how incredibly dumb it is to have weed shipped to you.
I'm a proponent of legalization or at least decriminalization, but as it stands it is still illegal at the federal level even if it is not a priority.
Using the US mail to ship weed is dumb because yes, they do use dogs to check packages. They may not check every package, but they do spot check. And selling across state lines involves the federal government and is a felony.
UPS and FedEx aren't much better because they're encouraged to work with the feds if they suspect a package might contain marijuana. Federal government gives a fifty thousand dollar reward for people information leading to the conviction of people shipping marijuana. Plus, employees of FedEx or UPS are just as likely to steal it for themselves.
I guess you can cut down the risk by double vacuum sealing bags, but it's just not worth catching a felony for that.
