Then you had the whole Albert Means scandal, as well as the fiascoes involving Franchione and Price. We spent a decade in the wilderness as a result of forcing Stallings to tender his resignation.
You are throwing away a coach who has won 78% of his games over 11 seasons because of a "slump" that only really got started last year. You are at risk of becoming a lot like Alabama post-Stallings or even Tennessee post-Fulmer.

If they get Fisher, likely no harm no foul I suppose. Just seems to be a big risk when you have a coach loved be the players and some of the fans, that loves the school, can recruit his ads off against Saban and despite the new narrative, is the only team that makes us worry year in and year out.
