Most states the age of consent is 16 if the other person is 18. There was one state that the age of consent was 14 (Montana maybe) but I believe they upped it to 16 recently.

Not sure about LA, but in Texas the age of consent is 17. Anything UNDER 14 is a felony. Between 14 and 17 is legal as long as both parties are within 3 years in age. Can't tell you how many times we've had angry fathers trying to get their 16 year old daughter's 17 year old boyfriend arrested for nailing them. They get all pissy when we don't do anything thinking that we're just being arbitrary.
