Elliott acknowledges mistakes and bad evaluations in recruiting by USC the past few years. "Rested on our laurels."

Tweeted by Scott Hood a few mins ago. Didn't know where to out it. This alone shows we need a clean slate IMHO.

What their sorry asses should've been doing was using that momentum to recruit even stronger instead of resting on their asses...um...laurels.

We didn't need Scott Hood to tweet that, nor Elliott say that because I t's pretty evident by what we have seen on the field the last two years, especially on the defensive side. I've been saying they (mainly criticizing Whammy since he took over the defense) can't evaluate talent. At least we all know it to be official now.

Yes but for it to come out third mouths and they knew it just shows how pathetic and unworthy of the university's money they really were.

I can't argue with that. In a sense it may have also stemmed from leadership....Spurrier.

Don't get me wrong I appreciate everything HBC did for the university and the program, but he stayed at least a year and a half too long.

Heard about this tonight ... it was all the talk. That and some other things like recruiting players with bad attitudes, bad work ethics, etc.

Marcus Lattimore has even made some comments that the weight room is nothing like when he and his buddies were there.

Other stuff ... there is no secret agreement between us and Herman, but we're in good shape. It is agreed that he is waiting to see what Texas does with Charlie Strong.

Fuente is back in the game - he's communicating now.

Kirby Smart wants the job. We want someone with head coaching experience .... duh. But he's a fall back option and he knows it and it may not be playing well with him.

Only two coaches have any chance of being kept-on ... G.A. Mangus and Joe Rob. G.A. is a great recruiter and recruits a tough area, the Midwest and northeast. Joe Rob's Special Teams have been "good every year except one," plus he has "serious connections in Texas and is considered a solid recruiter in that state if we would only devote more time and money there."

Our recruiting budget is about to triple.

Our next major upgrade at the stadium is going to be the locker room. They are working on raising the money to make it happen - the bid came in around five million dollars to do it first class. It's supposed to be a priority and a big deal to recruits.

The mood around the team and coaches right now is not great, ... "good, but about what you would expect." Some coaches are obviously making calls looking for jobs. Others have resigned themselves to the inevitable. "The Florida loss took a lot out of Elliott."

There are three players who have been bad elements and who have negatively affected this team's chemistry and they will be encouraged to transfer once this season is over ... three prominent names, no one would say except for one. Blackshere. Bad joo joo. The other two are evidently his running buddies. I'll find out who they are eventually. All three of them wanted to pull a Mizzou and tried to cause problems but were shut down.

Seventh Woods played us like a harp. Long story, can't be published openly but he played us like a harp. Good riddance.

The players dictated the black uniforms and new decals on the helmets ... probably will never see them again. It did not go over well with anyone who cares, trust me. Some were offended by it and that it was even allowed.

Certainly, not everyone is happy with Ray Tanner right now. I must have heard 100 times tonight, "we'll see what happens. This is a big hire for him. This is his legacy hire. If he messes this up it'll quickly be forgotten that he won two national championships in baseball ... this is business."

We definitely have the big dogs involved with this hire. We're pulling out all the stops and most of the "in-the-know" people I chatted with tonight believe we've got a really good shot at Herman, provided Texas does not come after him.

Texas is worried he is going to get away from them before they can get rid of Charlie Strong ... and Charlie is still talking to friends back here. Did not sound very good for Strong. He may not make it past this season.

I think I've already shared this but it was reiterated tonight. Recruiting has basically been shut down until the new staff arrives. No official visits until January. The two star DLineman they allowed to commit did not go over well and they were told point blank to cease and desist. That probably had something to do with prompting Shawn to make the comment in the OP.

Things are very tense over there right now. Less than two weeks before heads roll.

ETA: Coach Spurrier still hangs around. He wasn't there tonight. His office is almost empty. Someone said it will be (empty) by the end of this weekend.

Junior may take a job elsewhere if offered, but Missy and the kids will hang around long enough for school to let-out.

Everett Sands probably already has a job lined-up.

Deke Adams is looking around - not having much luck so far. Will probably end-up at a smaller school although things could change at season's end because so many schools are going to be looking to built new staffs.

Whammy will be snatched-up by someone because he is such a good recruiter, especially in the Atlanta area. He's getting some calls - he may actually be able to pick and choose.

Marcus Lattimore is getting more and more involved with the football program - he's here to stay and he's all-in, 100%. He wants to help us return to competitive as soon as possible.

What is the recruiting budget as of now compared to other programs?

If I remember correctly, lowest reported budget in the SEC.

Interesting that Fuente is now talking. Maybe he realized with that loss to Houston that he better strike while the iron is hot.

Dear God please let Texas keep Strong.

Very interested to see if Herman is elusive about Houston's new offer on the table or if he answers to it directly.

Houston's new offer on the table is a good one, but still not SEC $$.

Houston's fans/alums are getting pretty pissy with us in twitter land. "If they want him, they'll get him. frick the SEC" is a direct quote of one of them...and it was retweeted time and again by other UH'ers.

Takes some stones for Elliott to throw Spurrier and the rest of the staff under the bus regarding recruiting. I'm certain that did wonders for the chemistry among the remaining coaches on staff now.

Did anybody mention Spurrier accepting the "amassador" gig at Carolina?

God bless Marcus Lattimore. I don't know what we did collectively to deserve such an amazing young man, but I'll be forever grateful for it. He is fiercely loyal to us and that's no longer a trait you see very often these days, unfortunately. I hope I'm here long enough to see him coaching at Carolina.

I'm wondering how all of this is going to affect our performance against tCitadel and tTaters.

Oh..don't let Mizzou know that we actually squashed a few player's overtures to pull a Mizz at Carolina. Their collective vag has been infiltrated with every grain of sand in the Universe and they have nasty, infected boils on their asses and their assholes are forever scarred from being so butthurt bc shite in the real Cola didn't go down as they'd hoped. Stupid arse yankees.

Keep the info rolling in, rooster. We appreciate every morsel you can give to us!!

It was mentioned in casual conversation. He has not put his house up for sale yet, and neither has Junior and Missy.

General consensus is that Coach Spurrier may hang around awhile - wait for things to level out - spend some time fishing and golfing and going back and forth between here and Crescent Beach.

Everyone says he seems more at peace now than he has in years - is acting like a big fan, intends to attend the Clemson game and who knows after that. I gathered he'll always be around in one capacity or another and plans to attend games at his alma mater and here for the rest of his days.

Since you mentioned it - thought I'd share this - his Crescent Beach house. I've been by it, it is by far the finest house on the beach down there in an area where that's really saying something.

He's the biggest celebrity down there in an area overloaded with big name celebrities. And it's a testament to how much he values his security and privacy ... the amount of money he spent putting up the security wall and gates around that place. That picture was taken while they were still constructing it - but it is impressive to see finished. He's got total privacy in his own world down there. I'd say the house probably goes around 11k sf not counting the servants' quarters/guess house out front.

The property has got to be valued in excess of twenty-five million, easy I would say. I'd hate to have to pay the property taxes on that place.

Holy hell...now that's a house!!!

And he has Jerri to contend with...she seems attached to the guys at Carolina and he flat out said she was not happy about him resigning. And she's about to be a Carolina alum which makes for an interesting dynamic. With that alone, she'd be attached to USC forever. #ForeverToThee after all.

I wasn't crazy about the new helmets but I liked the fact that SC was willing to try something different. We need more of that innovation.

I'm assuming that people entrenched in the program weren't happy about the helmets.. Why not? Why are people so stuck on the all white block C helmet?
