That 2004 Auburn team should have had a shot at USC. I just don't think we win that game.

The 2004 USC team was just unreal. Some people have them as better than 2001 Miami

That's weird, since they struggled against some less than average teams that year. The same team that Auburn never trailed to in the Sugar Bowl (Va Tech) almost beat them if not for a bogus pass interference call. Everyone remembers the game against Chokelahoma, but USCheat wasn't world beaters.

It's sad that so many Auburn fans have bought into the media hype about 2004. I have to think these people weren't old enough to really follow football in 2004.

I'm not saying we would def have beaten USC or anything because they were an outstanding team and anything can happen in one game but what our team did on the field from the beginning of the season to the end was >> USC and it's really not even debatable.

Sure, but they also cheated and have been forced to vacate that title. There's no doubt, though, that they were almost (not quite) at bammer levels of talent. USC under Carrol was a semi-pro organization that had the "process" down pat.

If you go back and compare the rosters now, Auburn more and better NFL talent. They just got more hype at the time and that perception has stuck.

Auburn would have won by two TD.

No, they really weren't.. I watched almost every game, because I was a Reggie Bush fan, and they struggled several times against very shitty competition.
