...even with the mess at Mizzou.
Mizzou has a LOT going for us despite the non-football related racial hoax, which even the media has distanced itself from. Most people now realize the protests were based on lies.
Whoever steps into the head coaching position will inherit a team full of talent, incredible defense ready to go next year, and an underperforming yet talented offense and quarterback that could be good with a few tweaks. Speaking of quarterback, Lock is still a prime talent that simply needs to be groomed more.
Mizzou's in the SEC and now receives a huge annual SEC paycheck that can be used to keep coaches happy, lure recruits, and facilitate upgrades.
The assistant coaches on the defensive side of the ball are star coaches in the making. Keep them at whatever the cost...or perhaps promote Coach Odom to head coach and promote Coach Kul (DL Coach) to Defensive Coordinator. Start over on offense. Hire capable Offensive Coordinator, OL Coach, and QB Coach.
Mizzou has a recent history of success. A new coach doesn't have to completely start over at Mizzou. A coach can just jump right in and immediately compete in the SEC East.
Hell, this season is Pinkel's worst season at Mizzou and still we're only one game away from another Bowl. We could end our worst season with 7 or 8 wins. If we actually make a bowl and reach 7 or 8 wins, it won't be Pinkel's worst season record wise...but it will be considered Pinkel's worst season simply due to how bad the offense was this year.
If anything, I truly believe the Mizzou HC position will be considered one of the best open HC positions in all of college football this year.
We're going to be okay, folks.

If y'all spend the money y'all can get a good coach, it just depends how much y'all are willing to spend.

I'm just curious... can you name a premium head coach who will be coming into a situation where it has been PROVEN that the players run the team, not the head coach? Where racial strife is forefront at the university level?
If I were a big time head coach, or even a head coach wannabe, I would not touch Mizzou with a thousand foot pole. I am sure they will find some ambitious young dumb idiot to take the job, though.

Mizzou will hire Tom Herman and all the South Carolina fans will cry as they watch him beat their sorry arse team next year sending them back to another decade of irrelevance. Tom Herman is ours Carolina so back off.

Wonder how much pressure there is to hire a black head coach?
Will yalls search pool be narrowed due to that?

you're competing with USC, SC, VT, Miami, and who knows who else. Yall may get a good one, but you're kinda far down the pecking order of available gigs.

There are too many reasons to count. The biggest are that it's Mizzou and your team just annoyed the last coach into retirement with their embarrassing bullshite.

I didn't read any of that but the fact that you're mizzou is a good enough reason to keep any big names away

You guys will overpay for a mediocre coach because of the openings this year.
Both USC jobs are more desirable. Not only from a sports perspective but a quality of life perspective.

Actually, this is a false statement.

Yeah well you told us Mizzou would win the SEC and be in the playoff this year.

I'd say being an SEC East school is going to have some draw too. You don't really have a dumpster fire, you just need someone to come in and get the team moving in the same direction. More than anything, I think this will impact your recruiting

I hate to blow a huge hole in your theory here but you realize there is no reason at all any of the current coaches may not just go out find a new job, esp Kuligowski who could easily get a DC position somewhere.
I don't disagree w/ your overall message though, the only D1 program in at least a better than average state to recruit in, hell even Pinkel could luck into enough talent to win some there.

I don't think a coach wants to go to a school that is run by the students

Terrible year for a program like Mizzou to be in the market for a coach.
Plus a coach will be weary of stepping into that social circus.

I think the new coach will be hard pressed to do more with less as well as Pinkel has done.

Too many open positions at big schools this year. Mizzou should just wait a year and pick Sumlin up on waivers.

You will not get Tom Herman. It will not happen. Try all you want. Mizzou will not get Tom Herman.
