Does Pinkel want/need out, but is just protecting his players?
Caveat: it truthfully doesn't even matter, but can't help but wonder.
The players would be vilified if fans assumed they were the piece that led to Pinkel being fired. Would be booed and such.

I am convinced that the recent "events" sped up his decision. I think he'd have continued coaching if he feels as good as he says, but probably no more than another year, maybe two.
This year's lack of success...then THIS CRAP, were the last 2 nails in his coffin.

I think it probably sped it up, but he has cancer. Pretty serious.

Playing devil's advocate.
With one decision they have turned all ill will for the program around, for how long, i guess we will see. This ensures people will come out tomorrow to pay Pinkel a farewell and say thank you. This ensured the players will not receive a negative reaction tomorrow.
This really changes the entire situation oddly enough.

I'm sure all of this crap put an insane amount of stress on the guy, adding to the fact that he's been sick the entire year. It's really a shame but no sane human could blame GP.

No offense but not everyone shares the same reactions and feelings or have the same view of Pinkel and the team that others do. So I don't think they would be booed out of Arrowhead. I'm sure there will be some, but I think it would supprise me even if this had not come out today that a majority would react in that manner. There are still a good many that still don't understand exactly whats going on no part in thanks to the crappy turning one sided media.

According to Rhodes, Pinkel told home 2.5 weeks ago...before it all started. Only went public because the news was starting to leak and he wanted players to hear it from him instead of the news.
