Bama's replacing their top 3 scorers and starting point guard off a team that wasn't very good anyhow. All these things would almost certainly be true had Grant not been replaced.

I was a big Anthony Grant supporter, but for whatever reason he just couldn't get over the hump. His teams played hard, slow methodical basketball. Because of that style, they didn't score a lot but they were also rarely blown out.

AJ's the polar opposite. They're going to be exciting and fast. They'll sometimes put up some spectacular numbers but they're also going to get blown the frick out - probably a lot.

In the end, does it really matter if you finish 17-15 under both systems? What matters for sure is that there were almost 15,000 fans in Coleman for opening night. There are for-real national prospects seriously considering Alabama. There is fire and hope where there was lifeless apathy.

New players, new system, but also a new hope. They're allowed put up a few duds.
