Most reasonable objective Bama fans (Yes, I know there aren't many)will admit that we realistically have about 9 or 10 championships, not 15. Hell, I don't even claim '73, much less '41. I was told this story a long time ago as to why we claim '41 and some of the others: The Bama coach (don't remember which one)on the recruiting trail wanted to tell prospects that we had more national championships than Notre Dame. He had the athletic dept. find some more titles that we could claim, thus 1941 and 15 total today. It stuck and that's where we are today. What's the old saying, tell a lie long enough and everyone will believe it. Sorry fellow Bama fans, sometimes the truth hurts

Denying your own team's hard-won championships? You, sir, are the college football equivalent of a white apologist.
...seriously, though, 1941 is a sham. Just change the claim to 1966 and get it over with.

If you don't claim 73 then you are a dumbass pretending to be objective.
Do you understand how many other national champions in the previous years didn't win their bowl games? Do you ignorantly believe Alabama is the 1st and only team to do it?
Well Alabama wasn't. But it wasn't a problem until Alabama lost a bowl game. When other teams lost them(or in the case of Notre Dame didn't play them) it wasn't a big deal.
