Could this season be a fluke like 2012?

I had this thought as well but, what kind of makes these ideas shut down is:

We come prepared for every game and our offense looks competent except for the QB -- the difference, however is...

The defense. The defense, I feel, schematically, is better than Muschamp's. I just don't see us getting blown up every game no matter what. We play smart football.

We're way more disciplined, organized and adaptive. Mac's second half adjustments are glaring, something Muschamp never managed to do.

Our defense in 2012 was lights out and anyone with a clue should know that.

Louisville begs to differ.

They were unbelievably horrid in zone coverage.

Straw...take the hate Muschamp glasses off man...that defense was the best in the country...our whole team stunk against UL and Driskel especially. There was enough blame sandwich to feed a army.

In 2012 our defense had an anchor tied to its azz....its called an inept offense.

We finished 2012 with 1900 passing yards (1902 to be exact I believe) and 2485 rushing yards...through 13 games, or 337 yards per game

We are currently at 1902 passing yards and 1170 rushing yards through 8 games, or 384 yards per game with the same dynamic defense.

Ehh. UF is a much more complete team this year than 2012. Have a better HC as well.

I hate making comparisons but when Meyer came in, he won with a Ron Zook built team. Boom wasn't nearly has effective in recruiting but McElwain has come in and won with a team that he did not put together. I went and watched some of Mac's pressers when he was with Bama and Colorado. He has the exact same attitude and demeanor in nearly every single one. The only interview I can find where he was super pissed was after we played ECU. I think we landed the best 'up and coming coach' in the country. So, no. I do not think this season is a fluke.

The 2012 team had a better defense and a much better running game, the special teams were out of this world consistent, UF had one of the best kickers in the country, and the best punter in the country.

The 2012 team played 6 top 14 teams by the final BCS rankings, and beat 4 of them. 4-2 overall. They played 7 top 25 teams and went 5-2 against those teams.

The 2015 team has played 2 ranked teams and is 1-1, 0-1 against the top 14.

Comparing the two is silly.

Even with Muschamp as coach, I'm pretty sure the 2012 UF team would beat the ever living shite out of the 2015 team. But despite whatever you may believe about that, the 2012 team would easily be 7-1 or more likely 8-0 this season.

Wont argue at all about the HC. I do feel if Muschamp would have had a OC like McElwain we would be still be coached by Boom...but great coordinators dont grow on trees. As far as 2015 being a more complete team than 2012? 2012 was better defensively and had much much better running game...2015 team is struggling to run the ball. 2015 is better at throwing the ball...special teams no comparison...2012 was better. Hard to agree with this years edition being more complete.

We are indeed fortunate to have McElwain as a HC....but keep in mind that our defense is winning games for us. He has tweaked our offense in a fashion that its fun to watch for the fans. As long as we keep recruiting great defensive help....we can keep on winning. Without stout defense we will become middle of the pack.

It doesn't seem similar , both years the team was carried by a great defense and QB who made big plays to win some games. I can't wait for next year to see if coach Mac is really this good. If he is then we will be good on offense once Grier starts .
