Based on what example?

First, UGA has NEVER gone with an established, big name coach in the past. Without that, I don't ever recall any team changing and established head coach and maintaining a strong recruiting class. They typically lose many of their major recruits. Example? Look what happened to USC e when Spurrier even HINTED at leaving after 2 or three more years.

Is that example good enough? Remember, most of you guys have labled UGA a dumpster fire. How many major recruits want to go to a dumpster fire that just hired a former assistant coach? I suspect if Richt goes, Pruitt and Schottenheimer will be gone, too. (I think Pruitt will be gone after this year, regardless of Richt staying or not) How many of our recruits will still come here....reports are out that eason is already opening up his recruitment due to all the turmoil.

Do you recall any team changing and NOT maintaining a strong class? You forgot to provide an example.

Exactly, And now questions about Richt's job are here to stay, so it doesnt make sense to keep him around. How many major recruits want to deal with that?

David Pollack, DJ Shockley, Robert Geathers, Greg Blue, Fred Gibson, and Mudcat were all major recruits who went to UGA despite a coaching change in 2001.

The problem with the USCe example is that Georgia and SC have always had very different recruiting situations. Prior to Lou Holtz and Spurrier SC was a bottom feeder, and even with Spurrier they were not a recruiting powerhouse.

If we lose Richt then there will certainly be some guys who jump ship in that first year. Georgia has always recruited well though no matter who the coach was, it may not be top 10 good, but the cupboard will not be bare.

Regardless though. I don't like the idea of my program deciding the fate of it's multi-million dollar coach which it has 15 years worth of data on based on the potential decisions of 17 and 18 year olds who have yet to step foot on campus and will be gone 3-4 years from.
