Well Ole Miss became irrelevant and we would rather have the off week before a big boy game.

The SEC used to have tradition. Then the $ came along. There shouldn't be a football conference that doesn't play round robin during the regular season.

Following a narrow 14-13 win at home against an irrelevant Ole Miss squad, the LSU faithful felt the need to rush the field.

Yeah 10-7... Bad post is bad.

The word "became" implies that they once were relevant..

LSU having a bye on Halloween weekend is a very, very recent development though. The Magnolia Bowl stopped being played on Halloween weekend well before that. Didn't LSU play Tulane a few years back the last time that Halloween fell on a Saturday?
