I can't ever remember going this deep in the season with 12 unbeaten teams.
Last year at this time, there were three - Florida State, Mississippi State and Marshall.
Additionally, there are only four 2 loss teams in the AP Top 25 this week. Last year at this time, there were nine and one 3 loss team.

This season could go so many ways. 5 undefeated teams vying for 4 spots or a total collapse of the top 8 over the final few weeks

Yeah but big 12 will start beating up on each other as will Big 10 at the end of the season. I don't think LSU runs the table, sec will be a one loss champ by someone. Clemson has best shot to go unbeaten.

I wouldn't mind seeing a 8 team playoff this year.

Yea Clemson has a really good shot. FSU looked like shite against GT and the USC game is a formality this year.

AAC possible: 1
Temple: Memphis (AAC-E)
Houston: Memphis (AAC-W)
Memphis: Houston and Temple (AAC-W)
ACC possible: 1
Clemson: none
Big 12 possible: 1
Baylor: Oklahoma State and TCU
Oklahoma State: Baylor and TCU
TCU: Baylor and Oklahoma State
Big Ten possible: 1
Iowa: none (regular season), MSU/OSU winner
Michigan State: Ohio State
Ohio State: Michigan State
MAC possible: 1
Toledo: none
SEC possible: 1
LSU: none
Mathematically, we could end up with, at most, 6 undefeated teams at the end of the year. Assuming the AAC and MAC get left out, there shouldn't be much controversy.

I think the SEC and Big 12 both get left out. ND is a real problem. Playoff could be ND Clemson, Stanford and tOSU.

ND and Stanford play, so that one will be handled.
