Man I like Elliot. Dunno about as our next head coach, but he's on the right track.

I really think there's a large part of Tanner that hopes he goes 5-1 down the stretch and can just assume the job.

I like Elliott an awful lot, and this is absolutely his dream job. But if Fuente would take the job, I just don't know how Elliott could be better long-term.

If CSE beats aTm and UTK on the road, Tanner may start to lose some sleep.

My favorite shot of Elliot on the sidelines during the game was a quick shot of him (can't remember which busted play it was) and he was about to rip his headset off and a blind person could've read his lips...he was screaming "WHAT THE frick?!?!?!?!"

I appreciate that kind of passion. I yell it a lot during games, as well.

I agree with your post. I like Elliott a lot as well, but right now, I don't know if he could elevate us to championship levels. I haven't researched Fuente as much as some of you, but his work at Memphis is impressive.

I am a graduate of Memphis and what Justin Fuente has done for our program is nothing short of a miracle! The football team he inherited was an absolute dumpster fire. They couldn't win or compete against anybody, and he has to recruit in the middle of SEC country. His first two years at Memphis he had a losing record, but you could tell that it was a different vibe on the field and then last year was when everything started clicking.
I will be attending South Carolina next year as a graduate student and while I would hate for Memphis to lose Coach Fuente, it would be pretty cool to have him coaching both of the schools I would be affiliated with.

When Fry hit the upright on the field goal at the end of the half he literally slung his papers all over the field

I was within ear shot of that ... the pregame. I heard every word. It was better in its entirety. He started by saying "I want to do something that you're never supposed to do. I want to talk about 'I' right now. I have paid the price ... worked hard. Tried to do everything the right way. Worked hard getting here to my dream job. I have worked hard my entire life ..." and then the video picks up and you take it from there.

Then at the end, the part you don't see is him saying, ..."now go out there and do whatever it takes to come back here and be able to tell yourself, 'today I did my best. I gave it my all. I left everything on the field and I made a difference."

Then the players started cheering and I couldn't hear the rest of what he was saying but it got them fired up.

He was in high spirits this morning. Smiling like a proud papa and ready to work. They had a good turn out for both sessions in the weight room ... I saw Nunez hitting it hard in there in session one. Plus everyone showed-up for the hot and colds. I checked the injury reports ... nothing serious, the ones that have been out most of the season are still out.

With regard to Shawn ... I like him, always have. I'm pulling for him but he has a real uphill battle in front of him and we've still got assistant coaching issues and talent issues.

We've also got a week off which they are not going to completely take this week like they usually would. They're going to work through it. We'll see how it goes.

Im with the majority, I love Shawn, but I believe we need to go in a new direction. With that said I would love for the new HC to come in and keep Shawn and GA on staff.

Even if Shawn wins 4-6 more games, put together a solid recruiting class, I think the concern of many of the fans is, "will he keep the underperforming assistant coaches?" I think many fans are concerned that his relationships with the current staff will keep him from trying to build an even better one this offseason.

I don't think Ray would give him the job if he did tbh. The only people on current staff I'd be okay with him staying would be Mangus, Robinson and maybe Wharton back as the quality OC.

Shawn knows a few coaches have to go regardless ... practically all of them on defense. Trust me. He knows.

He knows.

He'll have to beat The Citadel, Tennessee and Clemson to have a chance ... and probably either Florida or A&M as well.
