Like I said in the thread that is posted on the rant on this.
Sounds like he was being selfish and didn't want to better the team by switching positions. As a few others have said if he was good enough he would have played more and if he didn't have a hearing disorder this would be a non story.

I don't find this hard to believe at all thanks to Freeze's dumbass explanation of why Shepard wasn't playing more.
Apparently he had trouble hearing the checks in road games due to crowd noise.
