You guys would have a hard time keeping him if A&M of Texas job comes open though, because I do think he would prefer to be in Texas where he is most comfortable recruiting.
I think the days of intra-conference coaching moves are over. I'd heard rumblings that Slive basically told the ADs that other SEC head coaches were off-limits in their hiring searches. I can't think of a coach that was hired away to another SEC program since Tubervile went to Auburn 15 years ago. If this is true, then Morris can't really wait for the aTm job to open by taking the head gig at Carolina.
Please don't misunderstand me- I think Morris makes a lot of sense, especially with his experience and connections recruiting in the Carolinas. But I would be surprised to see him emerge as a serious candidate, especially if the Texas job is open at the end of the year.
Regarding other candidates, I read the other day on CT that Beamer was essentially fired by Spurrier, and that he didn't leave on great terms- much like Jay Graham, who was expecting to get the recruiting coordinator gig, but was passed over for Jr. This was a repost with Morrell confirming the account. If so, WTF. That's completely inexcusable.
Stevie is creating a pretty big mess here.

One of the biggest mistakes of the Spurrier era.

Can we just go ahead and fire Spurrier instead of praying that he retires?
