Did anyone actually play ncaa ball ?
I did. I played at Jacksonville State from 97-00. Back then we played in the Southland conference, and one of my best games came against Stephen F Austin in Nacogdoches. I was a slot receiver throughout my career and that day I was often covered on spread formations by a LB that turned out to be Jeremiah Trotter. I ended up with 4 catches for 80 yards. We did have one play where it called for me to cut block him on a wide run. Long story short, he went to the ground, but my shoulder felt like it was still on the 20 yard line while the rest of my body made it to the sideline. It was like hitting a Mack truck.

Some of my favorite games to play were the games in Louisiana. Games against McNeese and Nichols were always packed houses and always loud. Loved those atmospheres.

The coaches I played for ended up in really high places actually. Here are some of them...

Doug Meacham was our OC. He is now the Co-OC for TCU. Patrick Nix and Mike Bobo were our QB coaches during my time. My position coach at WR was Jason Simpson, who is now the Head Coach at UT Martin. The DB coach/DC was Charles Kelly who is now famously at FSU.

I did go on to play for 2 years in the Arena Leagues and ended up as a scout in the front office after that for a few years before embarking on a professional management career.

Do you remember playing Samford at home in 97? We had a few good brawls during that game!

I DO remember that. Our QB, Montressa Kirby, took a few questionable late hits if my memory serves me correctly. There wasn't much love loss between our teams anyway, so I don't think it took much for the pot to boil over. I remember we had a huge fight with Troy that year as well before they moved up to FBS. They were killing us and a few of our seniors just got way too upset about it.
