Absolutely!

He has the most wins as a coach at 2 different SEC schools.

Maybe I am older than most folks here, but Florida was crap in the 80s and early 90s until Spurrier. They had sanctions from the "galen hall" era and were an afterthought to Georgia.

Spurrier not only brought them back to prominence, he still has people talking about those years. They absolutely destroyed folks, and they didn't always have the best line-talent. The hype around Florida that made it an attractive job started with Spurrier.

Mind you, this was during an era where scholarship limits were in place, and unlike Bear Bryant and others, teams couldn't sign 100+ folks to their squad just to hoard talent.

More than that, what he has done at USC has been great as well. He has moved expectation levels from barely making a bowl game, to having multiple 10+ win seasons. arse-kickin-chiken fans have always been great but under Spurrier then now have more to cheer about.

Perhaps he could have capitalized more at USC, but with certain injuries etc sometimes you have bad luck.

The way he has changed the culture there (in terms of winning) is monumental.

The concept of "it's easy to win at Florida" started during Spurrier's tenure.

From 1980-1993 Florida ranked 15th nationally in win% going 115-48-3, 70.2%.

At the end of the '89 season, Emmitt Smith had been picked first team All-SEC for three years in a row, was picked as the SEC MVP and was a consensus All-American finishing with over 3,900 yards in his career.

That's not "crap".

Maybe some of us are older than others.
